FIFA orders Hearts of Oak to pay $150,000 to former technical director

Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak have come under intense pressure to make signings in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Phobians’ rebuilding plans under new coach Didi Dramani is currently under threat, following transfer issues with both the Ghana FA and FIFA at large.

According reports in the media, the world football governing body (FIFA) has ordered the Ghanaian powerhouse to pay $150,000 to Dutch tactician Rene Hiddink for wrongful termination of his contract.

Hiddink joined Hearts of Oak back in July 2023 as the club’s technical director, signing a three-year deal with the club. However, his spell with the Phobians was cut short following his exit from the club after just eight months.

The Dutch trainer accused the Phobians of unfairly termination of his contract, prompting him to seek redress from the world’s football governing body.

Hiddink has been vindicated, with FIFA ordering the Ghana Premier League giants to pay $150,000 to the latter.

Hearts of Oak face a possible transfer ban should they fail to settle the debt on time.

The development comes as the club is already dealing with two cases in line with transfer bans. The Phobians was initially hit with a transfer ban over failure to settle Salim Adams’ sell on fee to New Edubiase United.

Meanwhile, the club has been given 30-day ultimatum by FIFA to pay GH¢106,000 to former player Francis Adjetey for wrongful termination of contract.
