Legon Cities Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has rejected talks suggesting that Ghanaian players should be taking a pay-cut amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The coronavirus pandemic has brought the world of football to its knees, with many of football related activities suspended as a result.
The return of football is still uncertain and quite a number of footballers, specifically in Europe are taking a pay-cut to ease the financial burden on their employers.
Some Ghanaians have suggested that similar procedure be applied in the local league to help the various teams survive the ongoing crisis.
However, Fatau Dauda does not agree, he explained that the local based players do not earn enough money to even consider a pay-cut.
“In Ghana the economy is not good. The club owners are really trying by paying players from the own pockets. The truth is that Ghanaian players don’t earn much and it will be difficult for them to even accept a pay cut”, he told Happy FM.
A couple of prominent names in the Ghanaian league have already voiced out their displeasure over the matter.
It remains to be seen whether the pay-cut talks will be implemented.
