I don’t need to be CEO of 11 Wise before I win elections – Hon. Mercer

The member of parliament for Sekondi Hon. Egyapa Mercer has said he doesn’t need to become the Chief Executive Officer of second division side Sekondi Eleven to win elections as others are speculating.

During last month, there were reports about Hon. Egyapa Mercer becoming the Chief Executive Officer of Sekondi Eleven Wise which made some people to draw their conclusion about him needing that position for votes as he head into the 2020 elections.

Hon. Egyapa Mercer in his reply on Sekunde Sports with Solomon Amankwa on Sekondi/Takoradi based radio station Kyzz FM said he doesn’t need Sekondi Eleven Wise to win elections because during the 2016 elections, he competed with a staunch Sekondi Eleven Wise supporter in the person of Mr. Assifuah but he still won.

“Some people conclude that am after the role votes. That’s the suspicion that it’s because of votes that’s why am going for the role. It’s not me who went in for the position but I was approached with it and I told I can’t take it because of my role as a full-time member of parliament.

“If you check the record for 2016 general election, my opponent Ebenezer Assifuah is a staunch supporter of 11 Wise and people were saying he was going to win because of his affiliation with Wise but after the votes, it was clearly confirmed the winner was me.”

“So am not so sure being associated with Wise itself will give you results automatically because everyone will listen to your manifesto before they vote for you.”
