Controversy Sparks up on Liberia Football Association’s New Headquarters

The new Liberia Football Association (LFA) headquarters, valued at approximately 1.5 million USD, was announced by President Mustapha Raji during his speech at the dedication program. This is the first-ever office of a football house in 87 years. The newly built headquarters is located in the Swankamore community along Samuel Kanyon Doe Boulevard, Congo Town.

The former General Secretary, Isaac Montgomery, was interviewed right after President Raji’s speech at the dedication program on Friday, April 28, 2023. He said the actual cost of LFA headquarters is approximately 1.9 million USD instead of 1.5 million USD. He continued that the LFA should make the corrections, and that the 1.5 million USD is not the actual cost of the newly built Liberia Football Association headquarters.

LFA President Mustapha Raji

The President of the Liberia Football Association, in his recent emergency press conference on Saturday, April 29, 2023, stated that the cost attached to this building is approximately around 1.5 million USD. He continued that there are other costs that the legal team is reviewing with the contractor. In good faith, they will revert and come back with the press and the general public with the final cost.

Admittedly, the FA President agreed that the 1.5 million USD is not the final cost, and the actual cost will be announced after further review of other costs attached to the project.

“There are other corrections that need to be made from the contract due to the change of location. There are other issues claimed by the contractors that we need to address. So the actual figure cannot be announced as the final cost. Otherwise, we will be in error.” – LFA President Mustapha Raji –
