CLUBS CAN’T TAKE THE ENTIRE BLAME FOR POOR ATTENDANCE IN THE BETPAWA PREMIER LEAGUE

One of the constant parameters that draw supporters to the stadium is quality football. With all things been equal unless supporters feel disrespected or there is no sense of belonging they are coming to the stadium if they are assured of quality football.

Last three seasons Accra Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics had great returns in Spectatoring despite the advent of Covid-19. This attest to the fact that Ghanaians are moved by quality football.

The GFA’s might not be wrong jabbing premier league clubs in the ongoing brouhaha of addressing poor attendance however I do think they have clean hands either.

In a league where you stand to gain a little in terms of prize money and sponsorship money clubs would continously be in a rush to sell quality players translating in poor performance in instances where replacements fail to live up to expectation.

It is fair to say the GFA has also failed big time in giving the clubs a league which is financially bouyant, one that has the financial muscle to help clubs sustain quality players for some good length period, improve coverage, coaching, promotion, infrastructure etc

I believe supporters will troop to the stadium if they are assured of quality football. The likes of Emmanuel Nettey, Benjamin Afutu, Kwame Poku, Augustin Boakye, Frank Etuoga Mbella and Yaw Annor in their pomp perhaps would have stayed a little longer if our league was financially rewarding.

A financially sound league improves coaching, infrastructure, coverage, marketing and promotion, culminating in a league of high standards.

Ultimately the clubs have a big part to play when it comes to “attendance” however they need fertile grounds from the GFA to succeed.
