CHRIS HUGHTON: “We need to be a little more clinical”

New Black Stars Head coach Chris Hughton remain positive despite Ghana’s narrow 1:0 win over Angola in the first leg of the 2023 Afcon qualifier but wants the team to sharpen their cutting edge.

Ghana beat Angola thanks to a late goal by Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo in the 96th minute.

Chris Hughton in his post match presser expressed satisfaction with regards to the teams ability to create chances but believe the team will have to do more to bury the chances they create.

“We had 11 chances, so that’s positive. If we played 96 minutes and only had two or three chances, then that’s worrying.

The fact that we have had chances, you always know, come the next game or the next game after, you are going to put some of them away. The only thing we learned is that we need to be more clinical when we have those opportunities” he said.

The Black Stars will travel to Luanda for the 2nd leg against Angola on Monday, 27th March 2023.
