Chris Hughton says Thomas Partey’s Black Stars career wouldn’t have been affected if he moves to Saudi Arabia

Early in the transfer window, there was uncertainty surrounding Thomas Partey’s future.

Football fans especially Ghanaians were worried for the midfield as Arsenal were in full contention to sign England’s Declan Rice.

Many believed the signing of Rice could pave a way for Thomas to be sold to a different club especially as there were a lot of speculations linking him to teams in Saudi.

Thomas Partey received significant interest from Saudi Arabia earlier this summer after Arsenal decided to sign Declan Rice.

However, after Arsenal secured the signature of Rice, it’s been reported that Thomas  Partey will be staying but as to whether he would be a guaranteed starter remains uncertain.

Chris Hughton was asked by TalkSPORT earlier on Tuesday, August 1, if Partey’s national team career would be affected by a prospective move to Saudi Arabia.

As long as they play “regularly,” according to Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton, calling up Saudi Arabian players for national duty is no problem.

Some of the best players from Europe have joined the Saudi Pro League this summer, including Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante, Karim Benzema, and a host of others.
