CAF Champions League reaches it’s penultimate stage

The CAF Champions League has reached its semi-final stage with the North Africans totally dominating the last four.

Raja Casablanca’s first leg win over Tout Puissant Mazembe was enough to secure a place in the last four of the competition after losing the return fixture 1-0 on Saturday.

Raja Casablanca beat their rivals 2-0 in the first leg to take charge of the tie.

Isaac Tshikunu Tshibangu had other ideas as he put TP Mazembe in the lead during the second half of the return encounter after being put through by the experienced Tresor Mputu.

Raja Casablanca will be hosting Zamalek in the semi-finals before making the trip to Egypt.

At the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium,Mamelodi Sundowns were hoping to repeat last season’s trashing on their opponents at the same stage of the competition last term to help overturn a 2 goal deficit to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

On the 21st minute of proceedings, Lebohang Maboe put the ball past his own goaalkeeper to scupper their comeback plans.

Guston Sirino equalised just six minutes later to help Sundowns back into contention. Mamelodi Sundown could not build on their equaliser as they were crashed out of the competition.

Wydad Casablanca qualified for their second successive Champions League after beating Etoile du Sahel 2-0 in the first leg and losing the second fixture by a lone goal.

Wydad Casablanca will come up against Al Ahly in the semi-final.
