Brentford confident of finalising Christian Eriksen deal

Brentford are confident of signing Christian Eriksen before the transfer deadline, 90min understands.

Eriksen has been without a club since his Inter contract was terminated by mutual agreement last month. This was due to Serie A rules preventing him from competing with his implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, which was installed following his cardiac arrest in June 2021.

Although Eriksen was the subject of interest from plenty of Premier League sides, 90min understands that the Bees have won the race for his signature.

They stepped up their pursuit of the Dane after they saw club-record bids for both Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson and Hull City’s Keane Lewis-Potter rejected.

Eriksen is now set to link up with Thomas Frank, whom he previously worked with in Denmark’s international setup. Brentford have a strong Danish flavour across the club, which helped convince the playmaker that the Bees were right for him.

90min understands that Eriksen will initially sign a six-month contract in west London with options to extend his stay after that.

He joins a Brentford side who are in danger of being sucked into a relegation battle if results do not pick up soon. Frank’s charges are eight points clear of the drop but have lost their last four Premier League matches on the spin.
