Brendan Rodgers acknowledges the crowd after Leicester City’s win over Legia Warsaw.
Rodgers had previously said he was disappointed with City fans for the way they had booed the side during the defeat to Chelsea.
Rodgers was delighted that his side could produce a performance to please the home fans as their quick start led to a 3-1 victory over Legia Warsaw.
Patson Daka, James Maddison, and Wilfred Ndidi all scored in front of a lively crowd to earn the victory that puts City at the top of their Europa League group with one game to go.
Rodgers had irked supporters when he said he was “disappointed” that they booed during the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, but after calling for their backing pre-match, he was pleased they could produce an atmosphere that helped his side.
“You sensed the crowd were up for it,” Rodgers said. “The atmosphere was great and you can see the push they give the team, that gives them energy.
“And then they had the structure to press, and then we played our football, and we had that fluidity.
“In the second half we controlled the game, and we defended set-pieces well. thought we were unfortunate with the penalty.
“The aim was to win and play well and we did both of those.”
City are now guaranteed a spot in the Europa Conference League at the very least, while a point at Napoli next month will ensure they go into the Europa League knockout stages.
He said: “I was really pleased with the performance. It’s a good result but equally important was the performance.
“We were able to play our football in terms of pressing and counter-pressing, which was really good, and then we looked solid.
“I was really pleased with it overall, and we’re in a great position going into the last game.”
