BREAKING NEWS: The 2019/2020 Eredevise season has been cancelled

The 2019/2020 Ductch Eredivise has been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision to end the season was made after the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte extended the country’s ban on football until September.

However for the first time in 64-years, there will be no champion in the Eredivisie with the bottom placed teams set to remain in the league.

Despite Ajax placing first on the current standings they will not be awarded the league title which comes as real blow for the club.

The decision was made as a result of UEFA’s announcement which encouraged the FA to award or decide European places based on sporting merits.

It must be noted that teams in the lower divisions who were well on course to qualify for next season’s top-flight will remain in their current division.

Ajax will now enter the last round of Champions League qualifiers, with AZ poised to move into the second round.

Feyernoord and PSV now qualify for a spot in the Europa League , while a controversial decision sees Willem II also enter the Europa League over FC Utetch who could’ve qualified for the Europa league with superior goal difference if they had played and won their outstanding match.

This decison was made by the league’s governing body KNVB on Friday.
