Richard Ofori

Orlando Pirates remain confident that Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori will stay at the club, despite him rejecting two contract offers. Reports suggest that Richard Ofori, has declined an offer to extend his contract with South African team.

Richard Ofori, 29, joined the team in October 2020 on a three-year contract.  The goalkeeper reportedly requested a pay increase before agreeing to sign the extension, however If both parties are unable to come to an agreement, Ofori will leave the team during the end of the season. The South African club are already speaking with Ugandan goalkeeper Salim Magoola as a potential replacement.

Ofori has been a key player for Orlando Pirates this season, having made 13 appearances in all competitions keeping 7 clean sheets and conceding 7 goals, thus showcasing his impact to the teams efforts. Since joining Orlando Pirates, Ofori has made 55 appearances, keeping 28 clean sheets and conceding 35 goals.

He was voted best goalkeeper in the 2015 season in the Ghana Premier League and was instrumental in Wa All-Stars’ winning their first ever title in 2016 and again winning best goalkeeper. The 29-year-old has been at Pirates since 2020, helping them win MTN 8 trophy and played a role in the club reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final last season.
