Bayern share spoils with RB Leipzig in Bundesliga return

Bayern Munich were held to a one all draw by Leipzig with Choupo-Mouting’s first half strike canceled out by Marcel Harstenburg’s early second half equalizer.

The game begun with both teams going toe to toe with each other to find the opener as Yan Sommer made his debut for Bayern following his recent move to the club on a permanent deal to replace the injured Neuer.

Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane had decent opportunities to break the deadlock for the visitors in the first half yet failed to do so as the game progressed.

Emil Forsberg also came close for the hosts yet his shot was saved by Yan Sommer after a wonderful ball from Dani Olmo.

It was after 37 minutes that Bayern opened the scoring with Choupo-Mouting finding the back of the net from a delightful cross from Serge Gnabry.

However, the second half saw a quick turn after seven minutes with Leipzig defender Marcel Harstenburg grabbing the equalizer with a left footed shot from close range.

Timo Werner came on for Leipzig in the second half and had a great opportunity to score the winner yet failed after his left footed shot was too wide from goal.

Konrad Laimer and Thomas Muller came close to getting the winner for Leipzig and Bayern respectively but their efforts were denied a happy ending with some great defending.

Despite the draw, Bayern remain at the top spot in the Bundesliga with five points clear of Freiburg who have played a game less.
