AFCON 2021; “It was welcomed” – Jonathan Mensah on inspiring Tony Baffoe speech

Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah has stated it was a welcoming scene when Tony Baffoe delivered an inspiring speech in camp prior to the Black Stars game.

Tony Baffoe represented the Black Stars at the 1992 African Cup of Nations where the team placed second and also at the 1994 African Cup of Nations.

The Former CAF Deputy General Secretary delivered a heartwarming and inspiring speech ahead of Ghana’s game against Gabon charging the players to sweat for the nation.

The Black Stars didn’t win against Gabon, however, Jonathan Mensah says the gesture from Tony Baffoe was very much appreciated by the team.

“It was welcomed, coming from someone that has worn the shirt. We all saw the way he played with passion.” – Jonathan Mensah stated.

“So if he’s voicing that to us [in camp], we’ve got to take it on the positive note and replicate it on the field.” – the Columbus Crew captain added.
