AFCON 2021; Boakye Yiadom calls for calm amidst goal scoring woes

Ghana Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has called for calm amidst Ghana’s goal-scoring troubles.

The Black Stars registered a blank in their AFCON opener against Morocco. The team also struggled to fashion any attacking opportunities thereby raising questions about the potency of the Black Stars striking unit.

Boakye-Yiadom addressing the media ahead of the Black Stars crucial encounter against Gabon, the striker reposed belief in the team’s attacking unit and asked Ghanaians to remain calm.

“There has to be belief in the national team. Everybody who supports the national team has to give the team the support” – Boakye-Yiadom said.

“You don’t use one day to improve on something[goal scoring issues], it needs time. All that I ask from anyone who supports the national team is to always believe in the country and be positive about the team” – he added.

Ghana will come up against Gabon in their second group stage game at AFCON 2021 and would need to avoid defeat to have a strong chance of qualifying out of the group stages.
