Aduana Stars Supporters Not Happy With Decision To Let Kotoko and Ashgold Represent Ghana In Africa

Aduana Stars Supporters have shown their displeasure in the decision taken by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association to allow Asante Kotoko and Ashgold represent Ghana on the continental despite cancelling the 2019-2020 season.

Supporters stated in a press release which was backed by articles in CAF Regulations and called on the GFA to listen to him.

“We the supporters of Aduana Star FC are not happy about the decision taken by the Executive Council of GFA to choose Kotoko and Ashgold to represent Ghana in CAF Champions league and CAF Confederation Cup respectively.

“We therefore wish to state the following for deliberations and clarification from the GFA Executive Council.

Reasons been that:-

“Under the tenure of the NC, they wrote to CAF to organize special competition for them to get representatives to African Club competition.
So we see that competition as NOT official but were meant to serve a special purpose that year.
CAF stated in their Rules and Regulations that;

“If for any reason the National League of a federation did not take place, the Federation has the right to submit the participation request of the same club(s) engaged having played the National League from the previous year”.

“Though, the Rules stated as written above, the competition organized for Kotoko and Ashgold to get the nod was not an official competition accepted by CAF but to serve a special purpose.
The same Rules by CAF states that:
“If for any reason, the National League of a federation was stopped for more than a year, the Federation in question cannot engage any club in CAF Champions League.

“So our view is, if the League is cancelled, the last recognized League played in Ghana was 2016/2017 season of which Aduana Stars won and still remains the defending champions.

“Hence has the right to represent Ghana in African club competitions. Last week GFA Communication Department in their numerous interviews and Press release made it clear that there had been No Leagues for the past 3 seasons and it’s affecting our sponsors since No sponsor will invest in the product (football) which is inconsistence.

“All these comments from the Football Association shows that the NC’s Special competitions wasn’t a League.
We want to take this opportunity to call on the EXCO to reconsider their decision as we all want to help bring back the love of our game.

“Our sincere gratitude to Osagyefoo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu Il for being among the few to stand in this Corona Virus era by paying the salaries of Aduana Star players and technical team every month.

“We say Thank you Osagyefoo, Thank you Aduana Piesie, Long live Ghana Football, Long live Aduana Stars.
Hoping to hear from the FA soon

Thank you
