The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Mr. Abraham Neequaye has commended boxing promoters in Ghana, and called for more support from corporate organisations to raise the standard of the sport.

He expressed that boxing is the number one sport in Ghana, as well as the strength of Ghana Sports, so the government must encourage businesses to support the GBA.

He exprsssed that it is essential that the media promotes boxing, because it has brought glory, honour and joy to the nation.
“Ghana has produced 10 world boxing champions, than any sport, so we must see where we have relative advantage and encourage boxers, coaches and other officials” he expressed.

He commended the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), the National Sports Authority (NSA), the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) and others who supported the Black Bombers to do well at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

He noted that very good amateur boxers can become very good professional boxers, so all boxers at all levels and categories, including female boxers must be motivated and supported.
