Patson Daka Scores Again As Salzburg Win Ahead Of UCL Playoff

Austria based Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka was again on the score sheet as he continued his goal-scoring run to help ten-men Redbull Salzburg beat Rheindorf Altach 4-1 in a week two Austrian Bundesliga League encounter.

The Zambian duo in the Salzburg squad both started the match with Daka leading the line with Sekou Koita while Mwepu partnered Mohammed Camara in the middle of the park.

Salzburg was unfortunately reduced to ten men just after six minutes after defender Andre Ramalho was sent off in the sixth minute after a reckless foul forcing Jesse Marsch to drop Enock Mwepu into the back four in a 4-3-2 formation.

Salzburg’s afternoon went from bad to worse in the 33rd minute as Johannes Tartarotti headed in Anderson’s cross to put Altach in the lead. Salzburg however quickly regrouped as Daka was brought down 3 minutes later and Hungarian teenage sensation Dominik Szoboszlai made no mistake from six yards to level matters.

Six minutes later, Salzburg was 2-1 up as Mohammed Camara cut out an attack before finding a Sekou Koita who made a brilliant run into the box before setting up Patson Daka for a close-range finish.

The Austrian Bundesliga Champions were 3-1 nil up a minute into the second half as Patson Daka combined with Szoboszlai before the former could take a snapshot which hit the goalkeeper before failing to Koita who slotted home with easy to make it 3-1.

Danish defender Rasmus Kristensen scored his first competitive goal in the 63rd minute to seal the 4-1 win. Daka was involved in the build-up playing the ball back to Koita whose shot was blocked and the ball fell to Kristensen who finished off with easy.

Daka who has scored six goals in his last three competitive games was later withdrawn in the 73rd minute for Karim Adeyemi while Mwepu put in a full shift.

Salzburg will now prepare to face Isreal side Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday.
