Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko will have to battle for qualification over Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash without attacker Elvis Kyei Baffour.
The former Liberty Professional forward is currently carrying an ankle injury, ruling him out of action for the next ix-weeks. His absence will surely affect the Porcupine Warriors as they gear up for the upcoming Confederation Cup clash.
Kyei Baffour, who joined Kotoko last summer is also expected to miss the start of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, which kick start on September 12.
While Peter Amidu Acquah has also been injured.
The promising attacker has been ruled out of action for six-weeks after picking up an ankle injury. He is expected to miss Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash against Kwara United next month.
Additionally, the talented winger will likely miss the start of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campiagn, which kick start on September 12.
Acquah joins teammate Elvis Kyei Baffour on the sidelines as the team gear up for the impending Confederation clash next month.
“We have been dealt a double blow ahead of the second phase of our pre-season preparations in Cape Coast, as wingers Peter Amidu Acquah and Elvis Kyei Baffour have both been ruled out for six weeks with ankle injuries. Medical assessments conducted by the club’s medical team confirmed that the duo will likely miss the start of the new season” a statement from the club reads.
Kotoko will host their Nigerian opponent in Ghana on September 19 and 21, before travelling to for the return fixture from September 26 to 28.
The Porcupine Warriors will face Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round if they are able to triumph over Kwara United.
The second preliminary round’s first leg is slated for October 17 and 19, with the decisive return fixture to be played between October 24 and 26.
