Congolese Midfielder Glid Otanga Clarifies Hearts of Oak Exit

Congolese midfielder Glid Otanga has addressed rumours of a dispute with his former club, Accra Hearts of Oak, following his recent transfer to Qatari side Al Kharaitiyat SC.

Otanga, who played a key role in Hearts of Oak’s FA Cup victory in 2022, left the Ghanaian giants during the ongoing transfer window. Initial reports suggested tension between the player and the club’s leadership. However, Otanga has firmly denied these claims.

“There’s no problem between me and Hearts of Oak,” Glid Otanga declared in an interview aired on Wontumi FM. “Before leaving for Qatar, I expressed my gratitude to the club’s leadership and even the players. Even today, if the opportunity arises to return, I wouldn’t hesitate.”

Glid Otanga made 54 league appearances and provided 2 assists over two seasons with Hearts of Oak, attracting interest from multiple clubs. The 23-year-old midfielder ultimately chose Al Kharaitiyat, a newly promoted team in the Qatari second division. He is expected to be a valuable asset to their squad as they aim to make a strong impact in the upcoming season.

Prior to his success in Ghana, Otanga gained experience playing for Akonangui FC in Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon’s Coton Sport FC de Garoua in.

Glid Otanga’s transfer saga may be over, but his journey on the pitch continues. With his talent and experience, he’s sure to make a mark in Qatar’s second division.
