Manchester United are in advanced negotiations with Marseille regarding a loan deal that could lead to a permanent transfer for Mason Greenwood, according to a sources .

The 22-year-old forward, who scored 10 goals in 36 appearances while on loan with Getafe in LaLiga last season, was expected to return to United for preseason training this week, as his contract still has 12 months remaining.

Mason Greenwood has not played for United since being suspended in January 2022 following his arrest on suspicion of rape and assault. Despite the charges being dropped, United has opted to seek a new team for him instead of reintegrating him into the squad.

Getafe expressed interest in signing Greenwood permanently after his successful loan spell, but sources indicate that United would demand at least £20 million ($25.7m) for him. While Juventus, Atlético Madrid, and Lazio have shown interest, Marseille has now emerged as the leading contender to sign Mason Greenwood.
