Former Sports Minister supports Wakaso’s assertion that politics is to blame for Ghana’s trophy drought

Former Minister of Youth and Sports ,Nii Lante Vanderpuje is in absolute supports of Wakaso’s claims that Politics has prevented Ghana from winning a silverware since 1982.

Ghana has established herself as one of the best football nations in Africa. It would be impossible to overlook Ghana’s achievements in the game as far as African football is concerned.

However, the West African Country has failed to win a major silverware since 1982 which is a big concern for a great fooball nation like Ghana.

Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is confident that political interference has been one of the reasons why the country has struggled to clinch an AFCON trophy in recent years.

“I will speak the truth today. Do you know our problem about the game?. Maybe we know but we don’t want to say it. But I think politics ruins the Blacks Stars at times. When NDC is in power, NPP doesn’t want us to win and vice versa,” the midfielder told Angel TV.

Nii Lante Vanderpuije confirmed Wakoso’s statement as through and revealed how some were influenced by a political party.

“I agree with Wakasu 100%. Partisan politics has ruined the Black Stars. I experienced it as a sports minister. Some people in NPP influenced some players against me during my time as minister and I got to know,” the Member of Parliament for the Odododiodio constituency told Angel FM.
