Leicester City Could Face Hefty Points Deduction Following Premier League Promotion

Leicester City

Leicester City could start the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a significant points deduction for breaching financial fair play rules.

According to Football Insider, Leicester City failed to contest their Profit and Sustainability (PSR) charge for allegedly violating regulations during the 2022/23 season.

Facing the threat of a seven-point deduction, Leicester’s upcoming season could begin on -7 points. The club reported substantial losses of £89.7 million in the 2022/23 season, reportedly exceeding the Premier League’s allowable limit by £40-£50 million.

This situation mirrors last season’s enforcement of PSR rules, where Everton and Nottingham Forest were penalized with 12 and four-point deductions, respectively.
