Renato Veiga Leaves Basel Pre-Season Camp for Potential Chelsea Transfer

Renato Veiga

FC Basel have confirmed that midfielder Renato Veiga is in talks with another club, amid strong links to a potential move to Chelsea. The 20-year-old, who has made 26 appearances for Basel, is reportedly close to sealing a deal worth around £12 million with the Premier League giants. Veiga’s versatility allows him to operate as a centre-back, left-back, or defensive midfielder, making him an attractive prospect for Chelsea.

Veiga, a Lisbon-born talent who came through the ranks at Sporting CP, joined Basel in 2023 following a loan spell with German side FC Augsburg. An international at the Portugal U21 level, Veiga is the son of former Cape Verde star Nelson Veiga.
