Tariq Lamptey Features in Brighton’s Defeat to Roma in Europa League

Tariq Lamptey

Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey endured a rough night as his club Brighton suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Roma in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie.

Roma dominated the encounter at the Stadio Olimpico, with Paulo Dybala opening the scoring in the 13th minute. Romelu Lukaku doubled their lead just before halftime, before second-half goals from Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante sealed a comfortable victory for the Italian side.

Tariq Lamptey played the entire 90 minutes for Brighton but could not prevent the heavy defeat.

Despite the setback, Brighton will have a chance to overturn the deficit in the return leg at home on March 14. Before that, they turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they host Nottingham Forest on March 10.

Lamptey, who has made 17 appearances and provided 4 assists for Brighton this season, will be hoping to bounce back with a strong performance in the coming games.
