Historic Triumph: Real Tamale United Break Medeama’s Grip with Hard-Fought Victory

Real Tamale United (RTU) secured a decisive 1-0 victory against Medeama SC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, concluding the outstanding Matchday 13 fixture in the Ghana Premier League

The home side struck early, with Mustapha Fusein finding the net in the 9th minute. Medeama SC pushed for an equalizer, but RTU’s resolute defense held firm, claiming their first win in six league games and a vital three points.

This victory catapults Real Tamale United to 16th position on the league table, injecting vital momentum into their campaign. It also signifies a significant achievement, breaking Medeama’s dominance after four years of RTU defeats.

However, the celebrations will be short-lived as the Ghana Premier League enters a month-long hiatus due to the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

Real Tamale United will resume their journey on February 24, 2024, facing off against Hearts of Oak in a potentially daunting encounter.

Meanwhile, Medeama still have three outstanding matches to complete the first round before focusing on climbing the table in the second half of the season.

With renewed confidence and a taste of victory, Real Tamale United will be eager to prove their mettle when the league resumes after the AFCON.
