Alexander Djiku sees red in Strasbourg draw against Troyes

Ghana center back  Alexander Djiku picked up a straight red-card in RC Strasbourg away stalemate with ES Troyes AC in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon.

RC Strasbourg continued their battle for French Ligue 1 survival with a 1-1 hard fought draw against ES Troyes AC in match-week 36 fixture at the Stade de l’Aube.

Djiku was shown an early showers by the referee after a VAR review on the 72nd minute for a horrible tackle. Initially, the referee issued a yellow card, but after a VAR review, it was upgraded to a red card, leaving the Ghana international to face an early exit from the game.

 

This came just after the defender’s return from suspension due to yellow card accumulation.

 

Despite being reduced to ten men, RC Strasbourg Alsace managed to secure a crucial point in their quest for Ligue 1 survival against the already relegated French Ligue 1 side ES Troyes AC.

Djiku has one goal and two assist in 31 games  for RC Strasbourg in the ongoing season so far.
