Breaking:André Ayew, the captain of Ghana, has been signed by Nottingham Forest.

It gives Nottingham Forest great pleasure to announce the signing of André Ayew, the captain of Ghana.

Following his recent departure from Al Sadd, the forward joins on a free transfer and has agreed to a contract that runs through the end of the current campaign.

During his tenure on Trentside, André will don the number 42 on his shirt.

“It feels amazing to join for Nottingham Forest,” André Ayew said.

“I am aware of the club’s size and the significance it holds for the community and its supporters. Every time I’ve played against Forest and at The City Ground, even though I adore the venue, it’s been challenging.

“Steve Cooper is someone who is quite familiar with me.”

Ayew, 33, and Steve Cooper were teammates at Swansea City, where Ayew scored 35 goals in 84 games while playing for the Welshman’s club.

Ayew, the captain of Ghana’s national team, has played in 113 international matches overall. He was the first Ghanaian player to play in the last three World Cups and scored in their opening group stage match against Portugal thanks to his participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ayew, a French native, rose through the ranks at Marseille, where he spent nine years and scored 60 goals in 209 appearances.

He joined Swansea in the Premier League in June 2015, spending his first 35 appearances at the Liberty Stadium scoring 12 goals and providing five assists.
