Crucial Asare saves book Kotoko a place in next round of Mtn Fa Cup

 

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have booked a place in the next round of the Mtn Fa Cup after a dramatic 4-2 victory on Penalties over Bechem as the game finished 2-2 in normal time.

The opener came early through Mukwala who slotted it in with power to put the hosts in front just after five minutes.

 

Fast forward, three minutes later, The Ugandan found his brace after a run onto a wonderful through ball and Kotoko had a two goal advantage against Bechem in the first ten minutes.

However, ten minutes later Bechem’s Isaiah Nyarko pulled one back to keep the visitors into the game.

Kotoko looked to increase their lead despite conceding before the break with Zeze and Mfegue combining severally yet they failed to find the back of the net going into the break.

The second half saw Mfegue subbed off due to injury with Afoakwa replacing him.

After seventy minutes, a deflected free kick saw Bechem level through Twene and Kotoko’s two goal lead was discarded.

The game went on to end level with Penalty Shootouts to decide it’s fate in Kumasi.

It took two crucial saves by Kotoko Goalkeeper Frederick Asare during the shootouts to get the Kumasi based club past Bechem as the shootouts finished 4-2 with Bechem Eliminated.
