Ibrahim Tanko’s 22 black meteors squad for Mozambique clash.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s Black Meteors begin the quest for back-to-back qualification to the U-23 Afcon against Mozambique from the second round.

The Mozambiquans – who eliminated Mauritius with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline in the first round – will be hosting Ghana at the first leg at Estádio do Zimpeto in Zimpeto – Maputo on Sunday, October 23.

Meteors began preparations on September 7 in Prampram after coach Tanko invited 32 players to camp.

Should Ghana go past Mozambique, they will come up against DR Congo or Algeria in the third and final qualifying round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games’ qualifying tournament in March 2023.

Successful negotiation of the round will mean back-to-back qualifications for the Meteors after the last U-23 Afcon outing in Egypt in 2019.

Seven (7) nations will secure tickets to join hosts Morocco for the 4th edition of the U-23 Afcon in June 2023.
