Daniel Afriyie Barnie Earns Black Stars Call-Up for Japan Tourney

Daniel Afriyie Barnie has been invited to the Black Stars team for the Kirin 2022 tournament in Japan this month.

Barnie was one of two local players invited for the Ghana’s AFCON 2023 qualifier against Madagascar. He failed the matchday squad and was subsequently dropped by the Black Stars team that played against the Central African Republic on Sunday.

Ghana will play in a four-nation tournament alongside Chile, Japan and Tunisia from 10th to 14th June 2022 as part of preparations to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Hearts forward is expected to make his debut for the Black Stars in Japan.
