Richard Atta’s injury: Hearts of Oak issues updates on state of goalkeeper’s injury suffered against Aduana Stars on Sunday

Accra Hearts of Oak have swiftly issued statement on the state of goalkeeper Richard Atta’s injury he suffered in the Ghana Premier league match week 20 fixture agaisnt Aduana Stars at Dormaa on Sunday, giving some sort of respite to concerned fans and coaches of the national team, the Black Stars, as World Cup play-off call ups beckons.

The 26-year old short stopper was stretched off the pitch at the Agyemang Badu Park in the 32nd minute of play, after he went down after kicking the ball for a pass to left back Denis Korsah, and was fear to have suffered from a muscle tear.

Atta was immediately taken to the Presbyterian hospital in Dormaa for diagnoses, and Hearts of Oak have confirmed that the former Elmina Sharks star has been discharged from the hospital with his situation confirmed less harmful as earlier feared.

In an official tweet via the club’s official account on Sunday evening, Hearts of Oak broke the good news on the state of their number one goalkeeper’s condition.

“Goalkeeper Richard Attah has been treated and discharged from the Presbyterian hospital-Dormaa. X-rays conducted on him proved that there are no torn ligaments in the thigh as earlier feared.”, the club announced.

Atta, a Black Stars goalkeeper, stands a chance of earning another call up by interim Black Stars coach Otto Addo, whose squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-off squad announcement is still pending.

Ghana will play against Nigeria in a two legged tie on March 25 and 29 in Ghana and in Abuja respectively, and it is expected that Richard Atta would make the final squad of Otta Addo.
