Ghanaian forward Khalid Basit makes European debut for Sheriff

Ghanaian forward Khalid Basit on Thursday made his European debut for Moldovan champions FC Sheriff in the Europa League competition.

Basit came off the bench to feature in Sheriff’s victory over Portuguese side Braga in the Europa League.

The 25-year-old helped Sheriff claim a 2-0 win. They will hope to complete the job in Portugal next week and advance to the next stage of the competition.

Five minutes after his introduction Malian forward Adama Traore scored the second goal. They had led since the 43rd minute when Sebastien Thill converted from the spot.

Basit moved to Sheriff in September last year, joining from Tunisian giants Esperance. The Accra-born player signed a three-year contract.

He has registered seven goals and three assists in 13 games this season.
