West Ham’s bid to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez on deadline day has fallen through, 90min can confirm.

The 22-year-old emerged on Sunday as a late target for the Hammers, who were trying to add some much needed firepower to David Moyes’ squad.

But having been talks with Benfica for most of the day, 90min can reveal that West Ham will not be signing the Uruguayan before the 11pm deadline – with the Portuguese giants feeling there is not enough time left to agree a satisfactory deal.
