Management Committee member of the Black Stars, Fred Pappoe has urged Ghanaians to remain hopeful despite the team’s stuttering start to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The four-time African Champions began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Morocco on Monday.
Despite losing to the Atlas Lions, the experienced administrator is certain the Black Stars will make the impact expected of them in the tournament.
“I don’t think people should lose confidence in the team because they lost their first game. There are quite a few people out there who may like to press alarm buttons and paint a picture of sadness and sorrow around the team irrespective of what happens so a defeat is something that will trigger those sentiments.
But I strongly believe majority of Ghanaians are still very hopeful and following the progress of the team. Sure we have had a turbulent start but I don’t think that is enough course for despair” Fred Pappoe said in an interview with ghanafa.org.
Ghana’s next game is against Gabon on Friday, January 14 – and the Black Stars must win to stand a chance of making it to the next round of the competition.
