Isaac Bawa completes a move to LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy II announced today that the club has signed defender Isaac Bawa. Bawa, 22, most recently played for FC Golden State Force in USL 2 while representing Azusa Pacific University in 2018 and 2019.

Bawa came through the ranks of highly esteemed Wa Anokye Stars. He also played for Rockets FC in Division one and Wa Allstars in the Ghana Premier League.

“Isaac is a talented and promising defender,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. “We think he can be a contributor along the Galaxy II backline as he continues to develop. We are pleased to add him to our roster.”

Last season with FC Golden State, Bawa made six appearances during the USL Regular Season in addition to three more appearances in postseason play.

During his time with Azusa Pacific, Bawa was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American first team (2019) and second-team (2018) and D2CCA All-American first team (2019) and third-team (2018) while being named the PacWest Player of the Year (2019), PacWest Freshman and PacWest Defender of the Year (2018).

In 2019, Bawa, anchored the Cougar defense all season, which allowed no more than one goal in 16 of Azusa Pacific’s 19 matches, including eight shutouts. Last year, he started 19 games and led the team with 1,736 minutes played.
