2026 World Cup: It’s easy for Ghana to progress from Group L – Former Black Stars player

Former Ghana international Prince Tagoe insists the Black Stars will progress from the group stage of the 2026 World Cup with ease.

The West African football heavyweights has been paired in Group L alongside European giants, England, Panama and 2018 finalists, Croatia following Friday’s draw in Washington.

Ghana will open their World Cup account against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before taking on England on June 23 in Boston. The Black Stars will wrap up their group games against 2018 finalists, Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

In an interview, the former Hearts of Oak star stressed the Black Stars can amass not less than five points to secure a place in the round 32 of the tournament, to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“None of the countries are easy to beat at the World Cup. We just have to focus on ourselves and ensure we take it game after game at the tournament. For me, it is easy for us to get five or six points to make it out of our group” he said.

The 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded 48-team format, giving Africa a record nine automatic slots.
