2024/25 GPL: Asante Kotoko seek redemption against visiting Lions

Asante Kotoko will seek an early return to winning ways when they host Heart of Lions in match day 9 of the Premier League at the Len Clay in Obuasi on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 2-1 defeat at Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium in an outstanding match on Wednesday- their first in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

Kotoko have recorded 4 wins, 3 draws and just a single defeat in 8 league games, having scored 8 and conceded 5. They are second in the table with 15 points.

Head Coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum’s  side have won their last three consecutive home league games without conceding and will hope to make it exceptionally difficult for the Kpando lads on Sunday.

Heart of Lions extended their point build up to 11 after their solitary 1-0 win over Nsoatreman FC at home last weekend. Lying in 7th position, Lions have won twice, drawn 5 and suffered 1 defeat, having scored 6 and conceded 4. The Kpando-based side head into the game on the back of their 1-0 defeat at Karela United in their last away fixture.

Asante Kotoko have played Heart of Lions once at home in the league since the Kpando lads gained promotion back into the Premiership last season with the game ending in a goalless draw.
