2022 World Cup playoffs: Bernhard Lippert confident of Black Stars chances against Nigeria in Abuja

Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Bernhard Lippert says he is confident of Black Stars’ chances against Nigeria ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoff game second leg tie.

Ghana were held to a 0-0 drawn game in the first leg on Friday night at the Baba Yara Stadium.

With the second leg game is scheduled to be hosted at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Tuesday, March 29.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Bernhard Lippert described the teams’ performance against Nigeria as one of the best in recent times.

According to him, the Black Stars can qualify at the expense of Nigeria if the team show the same passion in Abuja on Tuesday.

“I saw a positive game from the team, it was one of the best games in the last year,” the German trainer said.

“There’s a lot of passion, finally, we couldn’t score but it gives us a lot of hope that we can beat Nigeria on Tuesday.

“We knew before that it was a 50-50 playoff match, so we have chances like them, the venue does not mean anything, we are almost at the same level.

“I think if we show the same passion as today, why not, I’m very confident that we can qualify,” he said.

The Black Stars are expected to arrive in Abuja today ahead of the game on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ghana need a scoring draw or a win to eliminate their West African rivals.

The Black Stars are chasing the fourth World Cup appearance having missed out in the last edition hosted in Russia in 2018.
