2021 AFCON: Former Fulham and Leicester defender predicts victory for Gambia over Cameroon

Former Leicester City defender John Paintsil has sensationally predicted victory for The Gambia over Cameroon in the 2021 AFCON quarter-final on Saturday.

The Scorpions of Gambia shocked Guinea in the Round 16 clash as Musa Barrow struck the solitary goal on Monday while Cameroon secured their place while a hard-fought victory over debutantes Comoros in Yaounde in the second Round 16 game.

The Gambia, coached by Belgian tactician Tom Saintfiet, has won many hearts on the continent with their high-class tactical play and individual brilliance.

Following their victory over Guinea on Monday, former Ghana international John Painstil, who played 6 times for Leicester City in the Premier League has predicted victory for the West African side.

Yes. [I insist] The Gambia will get to the semi-final only if they are able to keep to their plans. Cameroon needs to be very very careful. They should be aware that they are not going to play against a team like Comoros,” he told Kwabena Yeboah on the AFCON show on GTV Sports+.

The Gambia are making their maiden appearance at the AFCON.
